Rotating Unions

A rotating union transfers fluid or gas from a stationary supply into a rotating machine element — a spindle, roll, drum or cylinder. Ditton supplies Deublin, which offers over 1,500 standard models plus custom solutions, across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Specifying a rotating union

  • Media — air, water, coolant, hydraulic oil, steam or vacuum. Seal face material is chosen for the medium; a union specified for air will not survive steam.
  • Speed — the dominant factor in seal life. High-speed spindle unions use a different seal arrangement to a slow-turning roll union.
  • Passages — each additional passage adds length and complexity. Confirm whether media must be independent or can share a return.
  • Mounting and connection — through-bore versus closed, thread standard, and whether the union is rotor-mounted or housing-mounted.
  • Seal type — mechanical seals suit continuous duty. Lip seals suit intermittent, lower-speed service and cost less to replace.

Send medium, pressure, temperature, speed and connection size, and we will confirm the model.
